Top 5 Wednesday: Hate To Love Ships

top-5-wednesday

This week’s topic is about hate to love relationships. This seems to be quite a common trope where two characters start off by hating each other but then grow to love one another. If you want to check out the Goodreads group then the link is here.

Pride and Prejudice

Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen- This is probably one of the original hate to love relationships. At first, these two characters really do not like one another but as time goes on they get to know one another and begin to fall in love.

A Court of Mist and Fury

Feyre and Rhys from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas- In the first book Rhys is portrayed as a villain but we get to see a different side to him in the second book. Feyre doesn’t like Rhys at first but she makes a deal with which means she has to spend time at his court. She does not want to be in his court but the more time that they spend together the closer they get.

Angelfall

Penryn and Raffe from Angelfall by Susan Ee- These two start off as enemies. Raffe is an angel and they have taken over the world. Angels are portrayed as bad guys in this world and Penryn is human. Whilst the romance isn’t a huge part of the plot there is a bit of a romance between these two characters and I loved it.

Me Before You

Louisa Clark and Will Traynor from Me Before You by Jojo Moyes- When Louisa starts a new job as Will’s carer neither are too happy about the situation. As they spend more time together they grow to love one another. Although this romance doesn’t have a happy ending I still enjoyed seeing it develop.

Poison Study

Yelena and Valek from Poison Study by Maria V Snyder- There was so much sexual tension between these two characters at the start despite them hating one another. Yelena is due to be executed and Valek offers her the job of food taster which involves her tasting foods for poison. I loved these two together and I was disappointed that we got to see them together as much in the later books.

Which couples did you pick?
