Elizabeth Howard has big plans of being a lady in waiting for Catherine of Aragon but everything changes when her family decides to marry her off to Thomas Boleyn. All her plans change as she is left at home to raise Mary, George, and Anne. When Thomas finally takes his family to court they quickly rise to power but power can be lost just as quickly as it is given.
I really enjoy historical fiction especially if it is about the Tudor period. I found this book particularly interesting as it followed Anne Boleyn’s mother rather than Anne. I found Elizabeth to be a really interesting character and I enjoyed reading about her. Obviously, this is a work of fiction but it was interesting to hear what Elizabeth thought of her daughter and the relationship she had with the king. Elizabeth came across as a very vain character and she constantly complained about how pregnancy had ruined her looks. At times this was quite annoying but she didn’t have much else to focus on. Overall I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
As a side note if you are in the US the author uses the name Brandy Purdy instead of Emily.
