To All The Boys I've Loved Before

Plot Outline

This book follows Lara Jean. Every time she has ever loved a guy she writes them a letter explaining her feelings. She never sends the letters but one day they have all been mysteriously sent out.

My Opinion

I was really disappointed with this book. It is so popular and I know that a lot of people really love it but I thought it was just an average book and there was nothing really special about it. At first, I really did not like this book. I found the characters really annoying and I didn’t like the writing style. This book felt really young and I think that was reflected in the immaturity of the characters. I found the reveal of who had sent the letters really predictable and I had guessed very early on who had sent the letters. I found the ending to be disappointing. I ¬†think the ending was meant to be a shocking cliffhanger as it ends how it started; with Lara Jean writing another letter. You’d think that she would have learnt that writing letters might not be the best thing as they can easily be sent out. I think the author left the ending open so that she could write another book. I don’t know if this was always intended to be a duology or the other book was released because the first one had been so popular. In my personal opinion I don’t think that this needed a second book I would have been quite happy if this had been a standalone. I probably will read the second book at some point as I do want to see what the author does with the story. I will probably get it from the library as I don’t really want to buy it.

3 Stars

What did you think of this book?
