Gone Girl

Plot Outline

Nick and Amy have been married for five years and on their fifth anniversary, Amy goes missing. The couple didn’t have the best marriage and  Nick wasn’t the best husband. He is the prime suspect for Amy’s disappearance. His behaviour does not seem like a concerned husband and he could be her killer.

My Opinion

This book was very popular a couple of years ago and it certainly didn’t disappoint me. The story started out quite slow but very quickly the plot picked up. The plot twist did come as a bit of a surprise to me. From the start, Nick is built up as the main suspect so I didn’t think that it was him because that was too obvious but I was not expecting what happened. After the plot twist had been revealed the pace really picked up. This book is very dark, twisted and messed up and it was really good to read. I thought that Gillian Flynn was really good at keeping the level of suspense high. The characters that she created were really dark and they were written really well. The story was really well put to together, Amy’s plan was quite disturbing but it was really well put together. We get to see Nick’s perspective after Amy’s disappearance and we also see old diary entries from Amy. Both perspectives paint very different pictures and it was difficult to know what was the truth.  I read this book really quickly as I couldn’t put it down and I needed to know what was going to happen.
