Top 5 Wednesdays

Top 5 Wednesday- Top Authors You Discovered This Years

A Court of Thorns and Roses

Sarah J Maas

I am so glad I discovered Sarah J Mass’ work. I really enjoy the Throne of Glass series, I love the idea and the characters are excellent. Her other novel A Court of Thorns and Roses is one of my favourite reads from the entire year. If you are a fan of fantasy books then I highly recommend that you check her books out.

The Selection

Kiera Cass

She is probably most well known for The Selection series, but I actually started with one of her stand-alone books called The Siren which I really enjoyed. The Selection series was amazing, I loved the world and the relationship between Maxon and America although I didn’t like the fourth book as much as the others, I think it is one of my favourite series.

Just Listen

Sarah Dessen

I’ve had mixed experiences with Sarah Dessen’s books but I am glad I discovered her as I am a huge fan of contemporary novels. She deals with some really important issues in her books and I think she writes about them really well.

City of Bones

Cassandra Clare

I am so glad I finally decided to read the Mortal Instruments series. I really like it so far and think that Cassandra Clare can write really interesting characters. I also quite liked the first book in the Magisterium series (The Iron Trial) which she co-wrote with Holly Black.

Marissa Meyer

The Lunar Chronicles are amazing books and I love them so much. They are a stand out for me this year. I love the characters and the world that has been created. I can’t wait for Winter to release in November.

Honourable mentions

Victoria Aveyard- Earlier this year she realised her first novel Red Queen which I thought was very good and I am looking forward to the sequel which comes out early next year.

Gillian Flynn- She knows how to create suspense, I loved Gone Girl the character of Amy was so intense and interesting.

Rainbow Rowell- Fangirl is another one of my favourites from this year but I haven’t read any of her other books yet but I am so glad I read Fangirl.

Erin Morgenstern- The Night Circus is another favourite, the writing in it was so beautiful and descriptive. I can’t wait to see what other books she will bring out.
